A drainage tanker is a vacuum tanker: a sealed steel barrel on a truck chassis, a pump that pulls a vacuum inside it, and a suction hose that goes down into your tank. It is the same vehicle whatever is in the tank — sewage from a villa septic tank, grey wastewater from a building holding tank, or water standing in a construction excavation. In Sharjah the same truck gets called a drainage tanker, a sewage tanker, a wastewater tanker, a drainage water tanker and, in Arabic, a tanker majari. We run twelve of them out of Muwaileh, every one of them 5,000 gallons.
What decides whether a job goes smoothly is almost never the tanker. It is the two things we ask on the phone: how big the tank is, and how close the truck can get to it. Answer those and we send a vehicle that clears the tank in one visit with a hose run that actually reaches. Guess at them and you get a second trip. If you do not know your tank size, say roughly how many people use the property and when it was last emptied — that is usually enough for us to size it.

What a drainage tanker can and cannot do
A vacuum tanker lifts liquid and suspended solids out of somewhere they have collected. That covers most of what goes wrong with drainage in Sharjah, but not all of it, and it is worth knowing the boundary before you call.

- It cannot repair or replace a damaged pipe, and it cannot mechanically cut roots or scale out of a blocked line — we empty and remove, which is a different trade from pipework
- It cannot legally tip anywhere except a licensed discharge point, which is why every load goes to a municipality plant
How many tanker loads your tank will need
One 5,000-gallon tanker clears most domestic tanks in a single visit. Larger tanks and sites need more than one load, and that is a planning question rather than a problem — we would rather send two vehicles or make two runs than leave a tank half done.
- A villa septic or holding tank is usually well inside one load
- An apartment building or staff accommodation holding tank is commonly one to two loads
- A labour camp tank is regularly several loads, depending on headcount — see labour camp drainage
- A flooded basement or excavation is open-ended: we keep running until it is dry — see emergency drainage
- A tank that has never been properly cleaned holds less than its nominal size, so the load count is about usable capacity rather than the number on the drawing
Where the tanker needs to park
The single most common cause of a wasted visit is hose reach. The tanker has a finite run of suction hose, and it has to be parked somewhere a loaded truck can actually stand and then leave. Before we arrive it helps to know three things: whether the gate is wide enough for a truck, how far the tank cover is from where a truck can stop, and whether anything is parked over the cover.
Tight compounds, basement ramps with a height bar, and the older street grids around Rolla and Al Nabba are all workable — we do them daily — but they are worth mentioning on the call so we bring the right hose length and the right vehicle. In villa districts such as Hoshi and Al Rahmaniya the plots are large and the hose run from the gate is long, which is a known quantity rather than a surprise.
Drainage tanker, sewage tanker, majari tanker — the same truck
Customers ask for this vehicle under half a dozen names and all of them are correct. A drainage tanker, a drainage water tanker, a sewage tanker, a wastewater tanker and a septic tanker are one truck doing one job. In Arabic it is a tanker majari, tanker sarf sihi, or simply a tanker for shafat mayah. If you are not sure which you need, describe what is in the tank and where it is, and we will tell you which vehicle we are sending.
The one genuinely different vehicle is a water tanker that delivers clean water. We do not supply drinking or construction water — we only remove. If clean water is what you need, you want a water supply company, not us.

Our tankers carry Sharjah Municipality wastewater transport permits, and every vehicle is driven by an appropriately licensed heavy-vehicle driver.
Discharge receipt on request

- How quickly can a tanker reach me?
- It depends where you are and what is already running, but we are based in Muwaileh and cover the whole emirate, so it is usually a matter of hours rather than days — and far less than that for an emergency. - Can the tanker reach a tank inside a villa compound?
- Almost always. We carry hose to run from where the truck can stand to where the tank cover is, and villa compounds are most of our residential work. Tell us roughly how far the cover is from the gate and whether the gate takes a truck, and we will bring the right length rather than discover the problem on site.
- Do you supply water as well as remove it?
- No. We are a removal service only — drainage water, sewage and wastewater out. We do not deliver drinking water, swimming pool water or construction water. If that is what you need, a water supply company is the right call, not us.
- Where does the tanker take the waste?
- To a Sharjah Municipality treatment plant, under municipality wastewater transport permits carried on the vehicles. We can provide the discharge receipt on request, which is what a facility manager or main contractor will usually want to see.
