Where Sharjah Sewage Tankers Discharge — and Why It Matters to You

Every tanker load taken off your property has to end up somewhere legal. Here is how discharge works in Sharjah, what it costs the tanker, and what to ask your contractor.

When a tanker pumps out your tank and drives away, the job is only half done. The load still has to go somewhere, and where it goes is the part of the transaction nobody shows you. It is also the part that carries the risk: illegal discharge into a storm drain, a wadi or open ground is an offence, and when it is traced it is traced back through the job, which means back through the person who paid for it.

This guide explains how legitimate discharge works in Sharjah so you can tell, from a quote and two questions, whether the tanker you are hiring intends to do it properly.

The tanker needs a permit before it can discharge at all

Sharjah Municipality operates a sewerage tanker discharge facility for tankers collecting from areas without a foul sewer connection — which is most private tanks in the emirate. A vehicle cannot use it casually. Sharjah Municipality lists a sewage tanker discharge permit as a requirement of the service, and entry runs through an electronic gate that checks the vehicle on the way in and records entry and exit times.

This matters to you because it means legitimate disposal leaves a trail. A tanker that is permitted, that enters through the gate and that discharges at the plant produces a record. A tanker that tips the load somewhere convenient produces nothing — and saves itself both the fee and the queue.

Discharge is not free

Sharjah Municipality publishes the fee for the service at AED 60, deducted automatically through the RFID system as the tanker enters the plant. The facility runs in two shifts rather than continuously, so a tanker collecting at the wrong hour may be holding a load until the plant reopens.

That is worth knowing when you compare quotes. The fee sits behind every properly disposed load in the emirate, along with the fuel and the driver’s time to get there and queue. A quote that is dramatically below everyone else’s is not usually a company that has found an efficiency; it is a company that is not planning to pay this part.

What to ask before you hire a tanker

  • Where will this load be discharged? A straight answer naming a municipality facility is a good sign; vagueness is not.
  • Can I have the discharge receipt? Any contractor who discharges properly can produce one. It costs them nothing to say yes.
  • Does the vehicle hold a municipality wastewater transport permit? Permitted vehicles carry it; it is a reasonable thing to ask to see.
  • Is the quote per load or per job, and how many loads is it for? This is where cheap quotes and expensive ones usually turn out to be answering different questions.

If a contractor cannot answer the first two, the price difference you are being offered is the price of somebody else’s risk. For what the answers should look like in practice, see what a drainage tanker costs in Sharjah.

What we do with your load

Every load AL NISR DRAINAGE collects is discharged at the Sharjah Municipality sewage treatment plant in Al Sajaa. Our tankers carry Sharjah Municipality wastewater transport permits and are driven by appropriately licensed heavy-vehicle drivers, and we will hand over the discharge receipt on request — which is what a facility manager or main contractor needs for their own compliance file.

Nothing goes into storm drains, open ground or anywhere else. If you want the paperwork, ask for it at the time of booking and it will come back with the job. Call +971 54 246 3788, or read more about our tankers and what they can carry.
